Participants will learn how to shift classroom dynamics and instructional practices to empower diverse students to see themselves as capable, curious, and contributing scientists now, not “when they get older” or “in college.” We'll foster a sense of agency in student scientists by learning science through doing it, not just learning about it.

Participants will explore concrete, actionable strategies to tailor content, process, and product to meet the varied needs of all students in science, ensuring that every learner can access rigorous content and demonstrate mastery. Beyond Volcanoes: Modeling with a Purpose in Science

Participants will engage in hands-on activities to develop and refine models for various scientific phenomena, learn strategies for facilitating student-led modeling, and explore how modeling fosters deeper conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning for all learners. We will focus on purposeful modeling that drives inquiry and explanation, moving beyond superficial representations.
